25 Simple Flower Nail Designs That Are So Easy to DIY

By Danielle Sinay

Everyone seems to love simple flower nail designs, especially A-listers and nail art connoisseurs Lizzo, Selena Gomez, and Hailey Bieber. The only thing that's not to love? How complicated creating the floral looks can be.

Fortunately, nail pros insist that flower nail designs don't have to be over the top to make a stylish impact. “We're seeing an increase in floral mani popularity, especially minimal floral patterns,” Juli Russell, DIY nail expert for Sally Beauty, tells Glamour. As for why that is? “They're easy to create and, more importantly, easy to customize and make your own,” she says. “A lot of very cute floral manicures can be done using your fave summer polishes and a dotting tool, which is a nail art tool that has rounded sides for creating perfect dots.”

It's true: You really don't need a huge arsenal of polishes to create a fun and trendy summer manicure (though it doesn't hurt). For example, Russell created this minimal white design using just a nail art tool, the technique that can be applied to any nail polish color you like.

“Electric Blue is also super popular this season,” Russell adds. “Check out his mix-and-match French manicure using a bright electric blue from Kokie in the shade Atlantis at Last, or this fabulous cherry blossom manicure that's like sipping on an Arizona Green Tea.”

To create the look, Russell used a tiny dotting tool and a nail striping brush. “The shades I picked from Nailboo's 'Max Gloss' collection are bursting with vibrant color, shine like crazy, and won't budge for days,” she says. “It's the perfect blend of beauty and beverage-inspired creativity.”

Before starting your floral mani, Russell suggests grabbing a pack of dotting tools to help you create the designs. “They come with an assortment of sizes so you can create a smaller floral print with the small sizes or flip the tool and use the larger end,” she says. And if you're truly a total beginner, there's still no need to worry: This Nail Art 101 Basics video from DIY University by Sally Beauty explains in depth how to use dotting tools and other nail art accessories.

Once you've got the basics down, you can re-create countless takes on floral designs in varying colors and styles. See 25 simple flower nail designs to inspire your style ahead, and get ready to screenshot.
